A robot named Cog
One of my favorite long term projects during my time as the Director and Cinematographer at Full Tilt Studio was the introduction of the SISU C14 cinema robot. Named after a robot developed by the Humanoid Robotics Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. My goal was not only to learn and utilize this cinema tool for production, but also give it a life by branding and anthropomorphizing it for the studio and community.
Technical proficiency
The SISU platform redefined my creative journey, offering a seamless blend of innovation and hands-on exploration. Its versatility allowed me to direct, operate, and capture stunning footage with unparalleled efficiency. With each interaction, I discovered new dimensions of cinematic excellence, fueling my passion for pushing creative boundaries.
Branding strategy
Crafting a unique design and aesthetic for Cog was not only crucial but also essential for bringing the robot to life. I enlisted the talents of John Warfel, a badass designer, to create a radical brand identity that harnessed just enough future punk rock vibes. This identity seamlessly translated into digital assets, captivating stickers, and apparel.
Taking Cog to the 2023 Filmfort & Hackfort portion of Treefort marked a significant milestone, further enhanced by the unique Cog sign crafted by regular Treefort collaborator, Jay Smith.
